Norton System Doctor Rescue Disk

I have been using Norton's Rescue Disk for sometime happily enough using both a 1.44 MB floppy and a Zip disk.

Since trialling the firewall ZoneAlarm Pro 3, whenever I try to update the rescue disks, I get the error message:

Rescue Disk is unable to detect a 1.44 MB floppy boot drive.

I then can only create a basic rescue disk using only the Zip drive. I have uninstalled ZoneAlarm Pro 3 and retried to create the full set of rescue disks and still get the same message. I am able to use the floppy drive with other applications.

Here's hoping someone can help me!

Sigh! No replies and I still have my problem!

There is one error in my original message, I originally said that I could still create a basic rescue disk using the ZIP drive.

What I should have said was that the basic disk gets created on the A drive in spite of the error message saying:

"Rescue Disk is unable to detect a 1.44MB floppy boot drive. You must have a 1.44MB drive as the boot drive to create Norton Zip Rescue disk sets."

If it still works, even with the error then what's the problem?

So Zone Alarm has left registry alterations despite uninstallation.

Where? Who knows but try ZA website or inquire nicely from Symantec but be prepared to either pay for their help or maybe to reinstall from scratch.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried un-installing Norton System Works and re-installing it but still get the error message and can only create a basic rescue disk rather than a full zip rescue disk set like I used to be able to.

I only found the problem when I was reminded to update the rescue disks. All my other software recognises the 1.44MB A drive and I looked at the start up info by holding down CTRL will starting and checked that the boot sequence was still A, C.

So I will try ZA & Symantec to see if they can help otherwise I will have to live with rescue disks that are not quite up to date.
