Need a better boat anchor

24-05-2002, 10:24 PM
Have 3 yr old system that I need to squeeze some more life out of.
Specs; Cyrix pr333
198 MB ram
Via MVP4 board
8 MB integrated video
(trident cyberblade)
running 98se

Thinking of upgrading either cpu or video
Board will take up to K6 550
No agp slot,
Any feedback greatly appreciated. Feel free to laugh, I often wonder why Ibought it myself!

Laugh? why would we laugh? Hey, my wife's computer is a 120mhz with 24mb ram and a 2gb (faulty) HDD...

and I still have at least one working 8086 (might have two... dunno where the other is LOL)

what feedback are you wanting though?

Mike.

boat anchors(?) like that have much use!
If you have a large music/video/pix collection, this machine could be networked and filled up with most of this, thus freeing up HD space on your better machine, and improving perfomance. It could be the machine that plays .mp3s while your other machine flys through hard grafix work.. the options are endless really!

Thanks for the warm fuzzy Mike. I should have been more specific. Any screensaver causes protection faults after a while. That says to me that something is doing its job properly. When I bought it the trade offs were in the on board video and the cpu , so I could get 17' monitor and cdrw. Now I want to improve those and was wondering what would be best to throw the money at.
PS: You dont live in a museum do you?

Brendan
