Fault Message

11-04-2002, 08:59 PM
Hi there,

On starting up my computer I received the blue screen with the suggestion that ' There are no spare stack pages. It may be necessary to increase the setting of 'MinSPs' in SYSTEM.INI to prevent possible stack faults.There are currently 4 SPs allocated'

I have never before received this message does anyone know what it means and how do I fix it?

Thanks,
Mervyn.

The error message means that a device driver(s) is taking up more space than it should.

This is another common error that is asked about frequently on Press F1.

The definitive answer is in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q149083

It means editing your sytem.ini file with Notepad, and adding the line:
MinSPs=4
(or 8, or 12 to cure the problem)
under the [386Enh] heading.

Cheers
