Kathy Webb - Fan Noise

12-04-2002, 08:33 AM
Look like the Klingons have got into PressF1 again - the origional post has been mixed.

Anyway, the noise comes from the bearing bush having worn. In my opinion, attempting to oil it could be disasterous. The oil may quieten it for a while, but will cause dust to bind and thicken the lubrication, eventually bringing the fan to a stop - with potential disaster for whatever the fan is cooling. Replacement is the best option.
