on my secondhand computer when you press ctrl o and type in web addresses ,other undesirable site addresses appear i have tried all things i know but to no avail acan anyone help

If you are using Internet Explorer try using Alt-D (which selects the existing text in the Address Bar), then the Backspace key (clears the text) then type in the new address.

Try going to Tools, Options, Content, AutoComplete, and click on Clear Forms. Click OK all the way out, close Internet Explorer, (reboot?) reopen IE and try again.

If that doesn't work then your problem could be related to the unwanted homepage nuisance, for which I formulated a fix not long ago.
