startup and desktop programshave dissapreared

i loaded yamaha soft synth into my comp. (cyrix300) only to have all my programs off my start menu and desktop items dissapear. i uninstalled the yanahe program using an uninstall program from the yamaha site but still no joy the programs are still there but i just cant get at them especially the tools etc. can anyone help me please. cheers

Restoring the previous good working registry has saved my bacon a few times so you might like to try that.

Boot to a DOS prompt and type in scanreg /restore

You should get a list of the last five backups - choose the one for the day before your PC went belly-up.
