Windows ME recovery

12-08-2001, 02:31 AM
I have recently bought a new desktop woth an unpartioned 20 GB hard-drive. ASUS A&VL-VM SOCKET A. Disapointed with the lack of partitions I defragmented and surface scanned the HD, then bached-up the HD using Hewlett Packard disaster recovery software. I then used FDISK to partition the HD.

I I formatted the HD and ran sys as instructed, however was unable to recover my system. On Reading the literature more closely I had to reformat my HD to at least the same size as before I created the disaster recovery disk. I then repartitioned the disk to 1 partion and reformatted the disk, still no luck.

I cannot seem to access the bios settings, nor do I have any way to install the CD-ROM. I have another PC connected to the net. I have a Window ME recovery CD, MS-DOS 6 and window 3.11 floppy disks.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Brian, Probably a silly question but,When you used fdisk did you create a primary dos partition & make it active?
To access bios try tapping the f1 key or del key or ctrl+alt+esc when booting.
Is your computer a name brand such as compaq or Hp or similar?
cheers steve
