OGame - New Universe

Since I managed to miss the whole OGame thing before I joined up to Universe 8 a few days back. However joining a way into the game seems to put you at quite a disadvantage.

However, Universe 9 started yesterday and nobody has had a chance to get in front yet (best points is only 12 on the leaderboard) so thought some people here might want to get in whilst nobody has pulled ahead...

eh, just a week and half ago or so I started a new Ogame in unvierse 2 with my uncle and cousins, so I'm just going to stick around there...

However, my new strategy is *much* better than my last one....

word of advice, go to uni9, uni2 is very late in the game, i think there's probably no way for you to actually get on top...

Who says I care about actually getting 1st place?

Besides, my uncle's up to 42,000 and my cousins (who started before him...) are at about 23,000 and I'm with them. They need someone so they can transfer resources too cause they're all in the same house and they'll get banned for trading while having the same IP.

That strategy being?

Well last time, as soon as I could I build up fighters, small and large cargo ships, heavy fighters, cruisers, ect ect ect. And while I could find people once in a while that I could raid tons of resources from, in the big picture it made more enemies, especially when someone had some friend at 100,000 points who would send 150 cruisers at me before I can even build them

This time, I still haven't built a single attack ship, but I already have Recyclers - and when they get back I go around and search for large debris fields which I harvest. No battle takes place, and no one knows who's taken it, and with several recycler's running it is a *constant* income - with no worry of retaliation.

Now here's what makes it even better. Those resources I would've previously put into attack fleets for raiding, save for the cost of recyclers, *all* goes into defenses. Now, I've only been attacked once, but since I have so many defenses for my rank, the attacking fleet was not only obliterated with me losing only 2 defense structures - cheap ones at that, but *his fleet left 80,000 resources of debris in orbit which I immediatly reaped the rewards of.* (Keep in mind I only started about a week and half to two weeks ago and I'm at 700 points.)

So, let's make an example. Say I managed to make a good raid that goes in my favor and I make off with 60,000 metal, 20,000 crystal and 15,000 deuterium. However it's likely I'll lose ships, but to keep it positive let's say I only lost a few and am out about 15,000 resources. Leaving me with a grand total of 75,000 resources gathered. However, the next day this same person, or an ally of his, retaliates, much like what happened to me before, with some fleet I have no hope of stopping. I lose 30,000 in defenses and he takes off with 100,000 resources - a net loss.

With my current strategy I don't make powerful enemies (only through attacking players on my level.) And instead of making raids that may or may not go well, which I'll have loses for, and make enemies who'll raid me in return or have powerful allies do it... I can send out recyclers and pull in roughly 60,000 two or three times a day... with no retaliation. (at this point) Also, since I don't spend resources on attack fleets or maintaining them my defenses are *much* stronger. So players that do want to attack me have a far less chance of succeeding, since they'll likely be players around my strength (like the last guy that attacked me.)

What I plan to do is build a powerful infrastructure before I ever build a single attack ship. I plan to colonize as many planets as possible, and three of those will be dedicated to a single resource - one metal intensive planet, one crystal intensive planet, and one deuterium intensive planet, which will of course be heaviliy defended. Also, I will build up a fleet of cargo vessals and anytime I come on and after I've built what I need to I will spread all my resources as evenly as possible between all my planets. A hit to any one of my planets will in no way cripple me or come as a mortal blow. If someone *does* happen to raid a planet where I've collected all my resources for some kind of major undertaking, it *still* won't slow me down much, as I'll have a massive infrastructure built up where I will quickly regain what was lost.

Also, if someone starts hitting a certain planet, I'll simply drain all its resources into defenses and shut down all production. When the enemy fleet arrives they'll meet with stronger defenses, and even if they do win they'll make off with virtually nothing. Either way they'll leave a debris field for me to harvest. Once they give up after making raids that only cost them dearly I can restart production on the planet. Having that one planet shutdown won't really slow me down and I doubt I'll have many enemies since I won't be attacking anyone. :) Oh, and if I could use those resources for something else that'll work too. And if I don't have anything to use them on at all, like if I have my shipyard upgrading or something, I"ll send them all to one of the dedicated planets and just let it go red. ;)

Somewhat, but they don't have to be terribly close... heck I was thinking of splitting half of each of them between two galaxies. Why?

i'm not even touching that game anymore, it chews up time like anything, plus there was always the constant frustration of being swarmed by something 5 times more powerful then you, sending 6000 battleships, and obiliterating your weeks long built navy of 46 battleships and 78 cruisers. :(

Why should that happen? It only started 2 days ago - it could be you...

Shouldn't this be in the OGame sub-forum?

:)

Can a mod please move it?

If anyone here doesn't have access to the OGame usergroup, let me or Vendetta know and we'll let you in :)

Oh, Observer, if you were going to say they might just start hitting all my planets if they're close... I can just make my cargo ships go extremely slow, so they're compeltely untouchable.... however, even if I can't do that the point is that I will have such a massive infrastructure that I'll be able to just mine up resources very quickly - it may slow me down, but I won't really be put way behind.

So far I'm up to 1000 points now after only about 12 days. I've also only been attacked once, that would be the one I described above. (He hasn't tried attacking me again.)
