BF2 patch now causing video, latency lag

Hey,

For some reason after I installed the latest patch, I can't get past all this damned video lag and latency spikes in BF2. I am playing on a damned college lan, and my computer is powerful enough to handle the game in high detail everything, so I don't have a clue as to what the problem is.

Has anyone heard of this, the patch just screwing up like this?

It happens on numerous servers.

Is it just me, or does every BF patch do more harm than good?

I don't know about BF2 since my machine can't run it, but I gave up on Battlefield:Vietnam.

I hate patching just for those specific reasons. If my game is running fine and I don't need the update to play online then I pass on patching every time.

The best version of BF2 from my personal experience was the very first patch. Course; on certain systems it made the game impossible to play at all.

Just played a very long session on several servers with the new patch and I had no problems at all.
If anything its an improvement.
No lag, no flash-back-to-desktop, no freeze-ups.

Very happy with the patch so far. They've seemed to have fixed a few issues that stopped me playing the game online these past few weeks.

Downloaded and installed the patch yesterday. Works fine for me. Now I'm able to play on Large maps now since I installed the patch.

Only played it for a few hours the other night, but it went fine then. Plus I got several instant promotions since they rebalanced the scale. ;) So now I've unlocked all but two of the weapons. ;7

how does weapon unlocking work? is it automatic?

anyway, I do seem to feel a slight video lag, but nothing serious, I'll just reduce the graphics quality a tad next time.

When you get promoted to Lance Corporal and higher, you get the option to unlock a weapon... it should come up automatically the next time you log into the game after a promotion.

I think I could have the same thing described in the opening post. Every once in a while BF2 has a weird spike or something that lasts about a second or two. During it I can't move and the game just halts for a moment, then resumes normally again. I just hate it when it happens during a firefight, I'm just about to shoot at a guy when the game halts and second later it resumes and I'm watching the sky and it reads youre critically wounded.

Didn't happen before the patch. Another thing that I did was upgrade my vid card drivers at the same time as the patch came out, I have now reverted back to my older drivers to try out if it has any effect.

I have heard a few folks complain, so I don't just think it is you mate.

I've been playing a lot over the last two days and have not experienced any lag or freezes.
I dont know whats wrong with the guys who are experiencing problems.
Maybe we can try and narrow down some possibilities:

Are you choosing only high ping servers?
Using a Router or modem?
Connection speed?
Resolution setting?
Any other programs running in the background?

Gamekeeper was one of the dudes getting it, he mentioned the patch turned up his settings. He fired some of them down and rebooted and thats the last I heard, dunno if it fixed it or not.

I am sure he will be here soon...

Cunt :)

Yer after I installed the new patch the game was running noticably slower than before. I checked my video settings and re-applied them and it now runs fine. Very occasionally I get a connection error but I put that down to server load as I constantly have a 30ms <>10ms ping.

Douglas GET THAT UPGRADE M8 :)

Brian GET THAT GAME, I so wanna be rising yo ass.
