You know, there's a mod that does the same thing. It's been around since shortly after DOW was released.


But now it's an option ingame :p

I'm not gonna bother downloading the patch. I just reinstalled DOW into my comp but, i dont want to suffer through updating with patches. I'm just gonna wait for Winter Assault to show up and let the expansion update my DOW for me.

None of the patches seem to work for me. I tried to install the first one, and it wouldn't install because it thought it was installed already (the game says it's version 1.0), and now when I try to install it the wizard just dies randomly...and of course none of the other patches will install without the first one........anybody have any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Make sure you got the right language patch. There are english patches for the english version of DoW and international for the rest of the world. After 1.2 they're all the same though.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War -- Patch 1.4 Changes
Balance Changes
Increased Defiler cost to 190 requisition 400 power
Increased Defiler build time to 60 seconds
Increased the cost of the Chaos Sorcerer to 200 requisition 100 power
Chaos Sorcerer build time is now 60 seconds (up from 20)
Cost and build time of Chaos Marine Tactical Bolters reduced by 5%
Reduced the cost of the Chaos Temple by 10%
Reinforce time of Chaos Marine Tactical Bolters reduced by 10%
Warp Spider damage against infantry has been reduced by 15%
Guardian damage reduced by 5%
Ork Stormboyz armor changed from Infantry High to Heavy Medium. Ork Stormboyz should now be a much better counter to Warp Spiders.
Reduced the cost of the Space Marine Dreadnought to 170 requisition 350 power
Reduced the train time of the Space Marine Dreadnought to 50 seconds
Cost and build time of Space Marine Tactical Bolters reduced by 5%
Reinforce time of Space Marine Tactical Bolters reduced by 10%
Reduced the cost of the Chapel Barracks by 10%
Scouts were inadvertently given an accuracy penalty while moving in the 1.3 patch. This penalty has been removed. Scouts should now be more effective at dealing damage.
The recharge for Battle Cry was reduced to 96 seconds (down from 120)
The recharge for Orbital Bombardment was reduced to 195 seconds (down from 240)
The recharge for Smite was reduced to 100 seconds (down from 120)
The recharge for Weaken Resolve was reduced to 45 seconds (down from 60)
The build time for the Predator Lascannon upgrade was reduced to 20 seconds (down from 25)

Code & Performance Changes
Many small optimizations for low-end systems
Full front-end now reloaded after switching mods (games)
2 new graphics options: Persistent Bodies, Persistent Decals
Improved system performance detection capabilities of GraphicsOptions utility, resulting in more accurate settings. As a result, the GraphicsOptions utility will automatically run next time you start the game, post-patch/update.


To me it sounds like:
Defiler spamming has been slowed down a bit by the increased cost.
Chaos Sorcerer is put down to line with the other heroes. (He had a ridiculously short build time)
Finally, Orks have a chance against Eldar with the long waited WS damage nerf and surprise of giving stormboyz heavy_med armor type. No longer WS spamming for an easy win.
Looks like vanilla marines become easier to mass with the reduced costs and build speeds. Also Guardian damage was reduced. This puts and end to the Eldar guardian rushes, which was really hard to counter for marines if executed properly.
Orbital Bombardment recharge made faster, LOLZ.
Bring on the body and scorch mark littered ground!

I'm left wondering though, why didn't relic do anything about the Defiler Twin Autocannon, that thing does have around 4x the damage of a singular predator autocannon. Against building_low armor (LPs, Gens) it is also only 20 dps short of a Bloodthirsters axe swing.

EDIT: Well at least the Defiler price and build time is now in check. Maybe it's too early to claim that Defiler needs work, have to play it out first.

That's pretty cool, I'm tempted just to buiold huge hordes of Grotsa nd throw them an enemy bases just to see the piles grow... :drevil:

I'm also glasd that that most of the force commanders abilities have decreased recharge times, they really did annoy me as they took far too long considering the damage they do. This is one of the reasons I love DOW, it is constantly evolving to improve and perfect. Far more hands on from the games company than so many RTS's...

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that the Relic Game Balance Sector is run by a delusional old man who treats a shotgun like his first-born child.

I'm hoping things will be all nice and fixed in the expansion.
Wow! Eldar must rock, lets make em awesome.
Eldar are too awesome, let's weaken them.
Chaos suck, lets make em indestructible!
Eldar are okay now... Let's weaken them.
Hold on... Orks get pwned by Eldar, lets make them decent.
Elder are weak now... Let's weaken them.

In any case, the game does seem more balanced than the previous couple of patches, though that's not saying much.

For those who have been living under rocks, patch 1.4 is out now. It's HUGE at about 188 megs, but there are massive undocumented changes ranging from skirmish AI improvement all the way to changing of how stances work and a complete revamp of CC ( there is talk about Orks being overpowered :eek: ) . In short, this probably what 1.3 SHOULD have been.

Right, Heres a list of UNDOCUMENTED changes I run into on Relicnews forums.

General:

- Cant build an LP on a location that is being decapped
- New annihilate victory conditions
- Changed the "eye" color to trim2 color which brings numerous change to custom schemes
- On any other stance other than "burn stance" units will prefer to target units rather than buildings.

Eldar:

- FoF research cost from 50/10 to 50/50
- Mind War kills only 1 model
- New GFX for Eldritch Storm
- Guardian squad cost 130 to produce instead of 120 (each guardian still cost 30)
- Activating Fleet of Foot on a squad with an attached platform will automatically activate gravitic booster.
- Embolden nows adds 200 morale instead of adding 200 to maximum morale. (Unconfirmed: it may also fill the morale of the squad back up to 600)
- Warp spiders now have an animation when they attack on the move
- Progress bar between each Rangers shot as well as for the Prism Cannon
- Fire Prism cannnot fire their cannon on the move anymore; they can still fire it while they jump.
- Wraithtomb now stops LP2 from firing (not sure if it was the same in 1.3)

Ork:

- All ork buildings can retarget their fire to a different squad; their range is also displayed.
- Gretchins cost 0 pop to a maximum of 4 gretchins
- Grenades fixed
- New look to LP2
- Generators no longer require 16 Ork population to be built
- LP1 and LP2 have both the same amount of HP: 1125 (in 1.3 LP1 had 800HP and LP2 1200HP iirc)
- Stormboy nob leader from 75/25 to 75/20
- Super stikk bomb does friendly fire damage to your buildings.

SM:

- LP2 can retarget to a different squad
- New graphics to OB/Weaken resolve
- Terminators squad with heavy flamers does not lose morale when they fire
- Grenades work

Chaos:

- Grenades work
- add a progress bar to defiler for the status of the battlecanon


Only 20 min patch dl remaining for me! arghh I should be going to school already...
