Halo: Favorite Single-Player Level

What was your favorite SP level from Halo2, and why? (some of the levels are combined because of space and obvious similarity)

I'd have to say my favorite was Outskirts/Metropolis, of all the other levels this one felt the most like I was fighting a war against the Covenent, rather the being some bad-ass behind-the-lines supercommando (which is nice, but can get bland :D )

When you play through it hte first time, the levels get better and better.

When you play it again however, you hate them all.

Well. Speaking for myself here that is.

i played just the level with the city... man, was it hard to play with that funky looking Xbox controller :D

The Great Journey, for two reasons.

One, getting to beat down Tartarus.

Two, Johnson's wisecracks, notably him telling Tartarus "Please don't shake the lightbulb."

Seconded: There's there's something so epic about the end of that level with those elites charging the Brutes with their swords.

That and the whole level was pretty much to show how badass Johnson is. Let's see, he commandeered a Covenant Scarab, blasted open the temple entrace, faced down the Prophet of Truth's elite guard, and helped the Arbiter kill leader of the Brutes, all the time making smartass comments.

First: Tartarus had just told Sparky to shut up and was shaking him.

Second: All that the IAC was picking up from the Covvie tac-chatter was a message "Regret, Regret, Regret," and to quote Cmdr. Keyes "Catching. Any ideas what it means?"

Johnson's response: "Dear humanity, we Regret being alien bastards, we Regret coming to Earth, and we most DEFINITELY Regret that the Corps just blew up our whole raggedy-ass fleet!"

I personally like:
Gravemind. The fight in the Mausoleum with [b]Blow Me Away[/i](the superior, non-vocal version) is just great. You can listen to that at Nile Rodger's website, btw. I just wish they'd hurry up and come out with Vol. 2 of the soundtrack because there's some good tracks on there that I still want.

Quarantine Zone. Covenant ass-kicking at it's finest. SO many tanks and other vehicles. By the end of the level, I have a Scorpion, a Wraith, and a Spectre all in a fighting group.

Uprising. The reconciling level. It's a pretty fast paced, non-stop action level. The music when you reach the little gully part with the two Wraiths in it is really ambient. Starts off with the militaresque drum taps and then goes to the Halo choral music(but a variant of it) right when the drop-pod reinforcements come in that really make you feel like you're getting your vengence on the Brutes for murdering all of your fellow Elites.

Who's Sparky? 343 Guilty Spark?

Where was that? From the books?

Yes, of course it is.

No. It was from in-game cut scenes.

Yes.
:wtf:
Didnt the bastard die in the PoA's explosion?
From the second level of Halo 2.
Isn't Keyes dead then? Being assimilated by the flood, and then being blown up on T&R?

youve gotten me pretty confused there...

Aw, you forgot the end of it! When him and the other two marines in the drop ship simulatenously say "HOO-RA!" That was the best part. He has this whole line and somehow those two knew to say the end with him!

I love the jarheads :D

You've gotten yourself confused. No one mentioned Captain Keyes before you. It was Johnson who said those things.

Commander Miranda Keyes, the Captain's daughter. Obviously he participated in some of the Navy's finest passtimes on leave.:p

I definatly agree that that part in Gravemind where it has the non-vocal "Blow me Away" kicks ass - that track should've been used in more places because it set a great mood for heavy combat like that.

Overall though I like Delta Halo/Regret the most... dunno I just find that level to be the most fun.

Definately. That was one of my favourite parts in the entire game. Especially with fuel rod guns :D

But my favourite level is The Great Journey, followed by Cairo Station.

Oh yeah. You and a marine both have one and the Elites have one on the right side and you're exchanging fire while the Brutes are shooting all over.
Then the Hunters come in and start meleeing the Brutes. One of the best moments in gaming. :D

The second level was one of the best; when you were fighting alongside the marines, you really knew how powerfull the Covenant was. Then you REALLY knew it when the cruiser went into slipstream, essentially putting into perspective what the books were talking about: no matter how powerfull you were on the ground, in space, the Covenant were simply too powerful. Seeing the city just get blasted like that was pretty damn sad :/

Yep, that's how basically all major engagements went in the books, and it really gives you that sense of desperation the humans have - and the main title music fits perfectly too. Even if they *did* win on the ground, their incredibly powerful, and large fleets would just glass the planet from orbit. Yeah, in this one you really get to see the extend of the struggle humans are having against the Covenant, it seems that no matter what they do they can't win any major engagement. The only major victory the UNSC has going for them was in First Strike when MC and crew commendeered the Acendant Justice and blew the Unyielding Heirophant and the docked fleet to peices.

Other than that virtually every battle through the entire 30 year war has been a complete and utter defeat for humans.

*SPOILER WARNING*

And now, at the end of Halo 2 it looks as though *everyone* is FUCKED. The Covenant have fallen into civil war at the end of their campaign against the humans, High Charity has been completely taken over by the Flood, and if that's not bad enough for the Covenant, humans have it the worst. The Covenenant are sending in their *real* attack fleet at Earth, and now that the index was inserted and abrutly removed the Covenant could remotely active Halo from the Ark (the Forerunner ship MC is on), wiping out all of them.

If you ever thought it got bad in Halo 2, the shit will REALLY hit the fan in Halo 3....

Metropolis level, because I like to see cars (and too bad there weren't any civilians nearby) get trashed by grenades. Or blow up cars and trucks and kill the enemies who happens to stand next to them.

Silent Cartographer and Assault on the Control Room are my two favorites.

The Great Journey for one reason: You haven't played Halo until you've see an elite jump onto a catwalk, plasma nade two brutes, and finish off the third with his energy sword. On legendary...

My reaction upon seeing this feat:

 :wtf: :drevil:

Outskirts.

Human weapons >> Covie Weapons in coolness and fun factor.

And the level is just better designed.

I love human weapons, they just...kick ass.

My biggest Holy Shit! moment was when I realized I was standing on a SMAC cannon. That was...cool.

"They have shed our brother's blood... and for that, they must die."
That is just about my favorite part of the game.

I was moved, and after that, it was my sacred duty to see that every Brute on that level got a plasma grenade in the face, or the business end of my bruteshot in their back. :p

I like the last level, if only because you get to beat the shit out of Tartarus. Trying to nail him with a sword is hard.

Second place goes to Regret. Same thing, bashing up the Prophet is so satisfying.

The only one that was repetitive on Halo 1 was the Library. And that one was BADLY repetitive. Assault on the Control Room was too,to an extent, but it was fun.
Other than that, most of H2's levels are very fastly paced. Uprising is almost non-stop action.
