Anybody else Dungeon Siege 2? |
Shinova Oct 3rd 2005, 1:50pm Two things about this game:
1. It's basically Diablo 2.
2. It's much, much better than Diablo 2. :p
I'm about mid-way through the game and I'm really enjoying this. Currently playing with a female Elven combat mage, with a party of three plus one pet (love the pets, btw).
Anyway, I think this game's much better than Diablo 2. Much better treatment of the party concept, sidequests, pretty neat 3D graphics, much more involving and developed NPCs, more "tactical" oriented than pure mindless action, etc.
So anyone else play and enoy this game?
wyldstallionryder Oct 3rd 2005, 1:52pm Got it the day it came out, love it, still haven't finished it.
E1701 Oct 3rd 2005, 2:44pm Been thinking about getting it, but how does it compare to the first game? That was really cool for a while, but by the fiftieth dungeon where you run through smashing piles of boxes and such, it was feeling a little too hack-and-slash-ish for my tastes.
Lord Khorak Oct 3rd 2005, 3:56pm Yeah I got it the day it came out, and loved it. I ran out of steam for a while though, I tend to play things to death for a couple weeks then leave them for a while.
H.B.M.C. Oct 3rd 2005, 4:35pm I eventually managed to finish Dungeon Siege 1. That Dragon was a hard fucker to kill, and those Sekh were dangerous. My elite team of Snipers saw them off though - my main character along with her first companion, the first chick you find, plus a Human male and a Dwarf - all Elite shooters by the end.
Combine them with the two mages doing healing (and the occasionaly Holy Lance and Lightning), plus a major Lightning Mage (backup healer) and a Fireball Mage (occasional backup healer). With Winds of healing running constantly, I could defeat pretty much anyone.
The only thing that I didn't like was the insane required levels for all the good items, and the length of time it took to level up. It was cool fighting those Goblins though... the first time I realised I was fighting robots with miniguns using nothing but bows and axes I knew I was outmatched.
BYE
Thenatos Oct 3rd 2005, 7:58pm Playing it right now, my human warrior is a fucking beast.
Major Diarrhia Oct 3rd 2005, 7:59pm I loved it in the first game when I encountered the robots. I remember almost all of my guys being able to pick up a different weapon, I had the flame thrower, mini-gun, and grenade launcher, i think. Really cool, I used them as backup weapons till the end of the game, or primary I can't remember.
Gray Area Oct 4th 2005, 12:54am Probably backup as they ran out of charge/ammo really fast.
My chars in the first consisted of two beefy fighters, two battle mages, a summoner and a archer. One of my summons ended up fighting the final boss to a stand still while my party bombarded it with arrows and magic.
MJ12 Commando Oct 4th 2005, 1:02am Probably backup as they ran out of charge/ammo really fast.

They recharged, though.
And the 'nade launcher was the *BEST* way to level up ranged. :p
I've played the demo and from that think its a great game. Probably won't get it till the price drops, though, since I'm busy with other stuff right now. It's much better than the first game, which started out pretty fun but felt like a chore the longer I played it. The only reason I finished the first Dungeon Siege was because I decided I was obligated to.
wautd Oct 4th 2005, 2:33am Dungeon Siege 1 was very dissapointing.
Dungeon Siege 2 pleasently suprised me. It's been since Diablo 2 i've been addicted so much to a hack & slash game
Lancelot D Oct 4th 2005, 6:55am ya, ds2 is good, I played ds1, but stopped early on as it was to bland.
DS2 is a great improvement, and the party system is very easy to master.
My current party consists of my male elven combat mage.
female elf nature mage (healing ftw)
female elf archer
and that half giant mauler guy :p
I love the specials, it's great :) and my healer has a spell that makes everyone ivunerable for a few seconds, very handy in those tough boss fights :)
Gray Area Oct 4th 2005, 1:33pm I'm stuck now. It's either this, or DoW Winter Assault.
Damn it.
