Spotlight not finding ALL of my image files

Hi, this is my first posting so forgive me if I don't follow protocol. I've just upgraded from G3 to G5 tower OS 10.4. I work with about 10,000 graphic files in tif, gif and jpeg formats. Spotlight is not finding all of the files. For example, I might have a file called 2005-09-05.tif, 2005-09-05.jpg, 2005-09-05.gif and 2005-09-05Cbrush.jpg and it may only find one of the files.

When I work on my Ibook 10.3 using the same files, they are found without problems. I've taken this to Mac tech support 6 times and my issues have been escalated to a level 2 tech who has since escalated it to the engineers twice now. The tech can duplicated the problems on her system too. I can find my files if I go in manually into the folders and I know that they are not corrupt because I transfered them to my laptop and they are found fine. After investing over $7000 in new G5s and perhipherals, I'm ready to scream.

Has anyone else had this problem and any suggestions?
