Tiger won't sleep ?nor the last Panther!

Hi all,

Browsing through this forum made it clear that Apple managed to screw big time with Tiger and Panther version 10.3.9 concerning Sleep.

Since I upgraded my G4 DP 533Mhz first to 10.3.9 and then to Tiger - the machine will not go to sleep at the designated time (2 hours). The screen saver does kick-in but the hard-disks will not spin down.

No new software or hardware were added before these two upgrades - which brings me to conclude that it most be a bug in 10.3.9 and Tiger as Sleep did work just fine before.

Manual Sleep command at present works.

Doing a fast user switch to another account and checking auto Sleep from there resulted in the same result - it doesn't work.

Did I go through... Is the Pope Catholic?!

I had spent a good few hours going through that thread and checking the suggested fixes on my Mac... Oh boy, I wish I could fix my Mac's Sleep problem!

Doing a fast user switch to another account and checking auto Sleep from there resulted in the same result - it doesn't work.
That is not a good troubleshooting technique as the original user's programs are still running if you do that.
You should log out and then log in as a different user.

Done just that - didn't work either though.
