Not directly. You could try the following workaround--I can't guarantee that this will work, but let us know if it does, and we may get a hint for the main page out of it.
1. You must be running Tiger. This will not work in previous versions of OS X. Launch Tiger's Audio MIDI Setup from your /Applications/Utilities folder.
2. From Audio MIDI Setup's Audio pulldown menu, select "Open Aggregate Device Editor".
3. In the Aggregate Device Editor sheet which appears, click the + icon next to the label "Add and remove aggregate devices on your computer. The name will appear "Aggregate Device". Click on this and change the name to "USB Headset", or whatever name you want to give the headset.
4. Below, check the box in the "Use" column next to your Unknown USB Audio Device. Since this is the only device that you will be "aggregating", you will NOT need to check the Resample box, and doing so will probably cause some kind of extra processing, so I would not advise checking the Resample box. Now, click Done.
5. You will now be able to set properties for the USB Headset (as you've now named it) in Audio MIDI Setup, and in the Sound Preferences panel. Test this new device, and tell us if it works properly.
