Hello, I need to know how to create a bootable(optional) disk to restore system preferences and maybe files as well. Any ideas?

can I back those up? Mabe save them to a CD, re-install, drag the prefs from the CD into the prefs folder? Anyone tried this?

This works fine. (You want to back up the /Users/your name/Library/Preferences folder.) You can back up your entire Home directory on the CD, while you're at it. (Depending, of course, on how large it is. You might not have enough room for all of your movies, mp3s, etc. on one disk.)
