When I send files to a client or if I'm doing an "open" from a program (like PhotoShop or Quark) I never had a problem with classic OS determining quickly which file was the newest version because I could not only view the time and date when I attached the file, I could also set the file view menu to date/time instead of alphabetical which made the newest version rise to the top. Now I have to go into each individual file to determine which is the most recent.
Has this "date" feature disappeared in OSX Panther or is there a setting someplace for viewing time/date?

I'm not sure whether this feature appeared only in Tiger or if it was in Panther too, but my File/Open dialogs (in 10.4.2) have two little boxes to the right of the arrows at the top. Clicking on these boxes (that have horizontal & vertical lines) switches the dialog between column view and list view. The latter shows the dates of files.

DUH. I'm embarrassed. I've worked on Macs since 1988 on just about every generation. I just can't get used to the OSX setup. (I dragged my feet for 4 years before I finally upgraded) Thanks guys. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions since I work alone as a freelancer. It's like working in a vacuum :o . The Mac at the end of the Universe.
