Quicktime Death

Quicktime has stopped working on my machine. Whenever I try to play a movie file or watch a clip on a website nothing happens. With files the player icon comes up in the dock then fades away again.

I tried reinstalling QT from the installer posted on Apple's site, but this is an installer for V6.0.2v2 and I thought V6.1 was current.

I'm running 10.2.4 on a PBg3 fw.

Also iTunes' silver windows are corrupted and look horrible even if itUnes still works.

any help gratefully received.
