Running 10.3.9 on an imacG5 2Ghz

Hi,

Due to incompatibilities between our new imac G5s running 10.4.2 and out 10.3.9 osx server we've had to install 10.3.9 on our imac G5s.

Now the file permission problems we were having have all gone away and everything is running as it should be now the imacs are running 10.3.9.

However, they have no sound at all, the control panel shows no outout device available.

Also the fans are continuously whirring.

This is obviously due to the fact that 10.3.9 predates our imacs and so some drivers and whatnot are missing.

Is it possible to extract the drivers from the supplied 10.4.2 cds?

Your basic problem is that even if you were able to extract the proper kext files from the 10.4 cd, they probably will never work as they are meant to run with a 10.4 speicifc version of the kernel.
If you have a 10.4 system, the kext files are located in /System/Library/Extensions
I'd suggest you do a backup of your iMac before attempting this as trying to change kernel level files can make the system unbootable.
