Display Profiles won't stick

I have a new DP 1.42 G4 and I'm presently using "iceBook Greta" display profile (System Preferences: Displays: Color) with my Viewsonic LCD display.
But extended sleep (or using Photoshop) will cause the profile to revert to some unknown profile that is so white that it washes out all those light horizonal lines that Aqua displays on various windows. Then I need to go into Display Profiles to reset the profile every time, and then it looks OK (for a while).

Does anyone have any explanation or cure?

Pat
