FTP and Comm Failures

I've tried everything to fix this one and hope someone here's got an idea:

Using multiple FTP programs and even Terminal I log into an FTP site, I start the DL and everything is going fine at a decent speed when.... stall... failure.

As i said, I've tried every program and even the terminal (which is rather easy to use for anyone who hasn't tried it yet).

Here's the kicker: I restart in 9.2.2 and start up a classic version of an FTP program ---- NO PROBLEM whatsoever. Fast, stable download.

I've had a similar problem in long downloads in from other sources as well and I'm still getting a TON of lookupd and DNSAGENT errors.

I'm at a total loss on this one, gang and slightly ticked off about it too.
