PowerBook 667, max RAM = no restart

You just upgraded your RAM, and you're assuming the Apple RAM is at fault? Did you get the new RAM from Apple? If not, I'd assume that the RAM you just added is at fault.

I haven't seen this specific problem. But I know that a lot of the cheap (online, magazine) RAM put into the new iBooks will make the trackpad slow down. I'm not saying that all RAM from those sources are cheaply made, but you get what you pay for.

Yank out the new RAM, and see if the problem persists. If not, you know that's the culprit.

saint.duo the RAM was indeed supplied by Apple with Apple stickers (KingMax chipset). The Apple reseller has agreed to swap for new ones. So we'll see if that works tonight. Interestingly, I booted into OS9 and disabled RAM checking in the Memory (option-command) Control Panel, and it still won't restart. Worse still after having to use the reset button, the date reverts to 1904. Thankfully the freeware 'FileDate Fixer' handles that problem.

I recently upgraded the RAM in my PowerBook 667 to 2 x 512mb modules (PC133) and can no longer restart, no matter what OS is running, not even from a CD. So I suspect the Apple supplied RAM is at fault. A normal start is OK, just no restart. I have to hit the reset button and then the power on button to start it up. Anyone else had this problem?
