If you just want to rip your DVDs to your harddrive then use a external ripper.
Use DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 (in File Mode and with all files selected) or DVDFab Decrypter.

chances are for many all you will need is dvd shrink, you wanted simplicity.

there are so many programs that allow you to do that-making iso files from your dvd's.
try some (UltraISO, DVDClone, Fab5,...)and i'm sure you'll find that suits you.
