I think the disc you're trying to backup is scratched or damaged. Especially if both DVDS and DVDD are failing to decrypt at about the same time. Try cleaning the disc with rubbing alcohol. Make ceratain that you are wiping from the inner out to the edge of the disc. If scratches on the disc are visbile, try dabbing on a bit of toothpaste on the disc. Then wiping, again from the inner circle out to the egde of the disc.

Thanks KSN....I'll try that...but I don't think that's the issue....a friend of mine is getting the exact same error message "cyclic error" when he's trying to back up "Resident Evil 2" ... maybe a new form of encryption?

True, Resident Evil 2 do have another new type of DVD protection - ARccOS protection. This protection gives the same errors as you if you use DVD Shrink directly towards the DVD. DVD Decrypter in file mode ver 3.5.4.0 will work with this DVD and then he can use DVD Shrink on those files.
Your DVD is not an ARccOS protected disc. Can you see any scratches on the DVD?
If you had DVD43 running at the same time as you used DVD Decrypter - that's not good. That will cause a problem. Close down DVD43 while you run DVD Decrypter.

Hi Cynthia,
I've read alot of the recommendations that you were giving to people... I made sure no other programs were running.... I even shut down my internet connection...but nothing worked.
My brain is fried.

DVD43 can be tricky to see if it's running or not.
Try to press
Ctrl Alt Del
at the same time and see if you can spot a file with a name as DVD43.exe in the processes tab in the window that will turn up.
Also - did you try to clean the DVD as suggested by KSN?

There are a few small scratches on the disc... and I gave it a clean
DVD43 definatley not running in the back ground.
Just trying it again...and it's stuck on the same spot...

I find that Mer car polish is excellent for cleaning up scratched disks. Works a treat every time.

You don't need that file VTS_07_0 .bup
Skip that file and then when all files are ripped - copy the VTS_07_0.IFO to VTS_07_0.BUP
The .BUP is a backup of the .IFO

Well, would you believe it.....it worked. I got the old turtle wax out....gave the disc a good coat of wax....and it worked.
thanks everyone.
