Comcast DVR --Computer question

I recorded a show, using the latest Comcast DVR box and now I would like to burn it to dvd, I know that the dvr box has a firewire connection just not sure what happens when I plug it into my computer. I want to make sure its going to work before I unhook it and relocate it so that it is next to my computer, so I have a few questions...

1. When I plug it in does it show up in My Computer as a removable device?

2. What format are the files stored in? MPEG? straight DV? VOB?

It was the Live Season Premiere of Will & Grace that I recorded...
