I have this problem with both media player 9 and 10, when playing .wmv files I get a terrible fps, about 1,4, and a very high skipped frame count.

have an S3 savage 4 graphic card (with newest drivers)The video adapter is just too old, it's either PCI slot (very slow) or AGP x2 at best and only has 8Mb RAM. To get decent framerates I'm afraid you'll need to upgrade to something newer, preferrably with at least 64Mb or more RAM. You'll also need to consider compatibility with your motherboard if it's as old as your video card. You can find old 'refurbished' nVidia geForce 4's, and ATI Radeon 95xx series very cheap now, and they would even allow you to player newer (Dx 8) games.
