The weird connector wouldn't be a scart plug by any chance?

Anyhow, the AV button is probally on the remote only, Do you have the remote by any chance?

Alternativly try plugging the Playstation into the video.....

Ok this is a spare tv,

no idea what a scart plug is.......He got it from DSE? and says its a playstation adaptor. no remote of funai, just a generic remote..so no AV button.....??? 4 plug points on this adapter, and a switch for input or output........

Plus what do you mean video? actual vidoe player or a plug named video?

This is a scart plug, the cheap scart adaptors look similar but just have a couple AV ports on teh backside rather then a cable.

And yes, I meant teh video player, Plug the PS2 straight into her....

one side looks like that...................but this is the spare telly, and its in the kids room.............lol

Tried manually tuning in the PS signal on a spare channel?

Um it doesnt have a tuning type button switch or any sort of dodad on it for that so i presume it was done mostly by a remote?
may have to ask him how to tune it......:(

just that lovely grey static picture you get all the time.

this tv was to be a purely Playstation tv, and not intended for actual tv station use.....as no plug, or wires for reception unless i buy some bunnies ears (rabbit ears?).

Sounds like what you have is SCART to AV adapter, but without the correct TV remote you probably cannot set it to AV.

I have TVs here that can only be set to AV (to accept inputs from the SCART) from the remote so its not unusual.

Basically unless you can get a fully functional remote, it's probably not useable as a TV monitor for the PS.

seems he does have a remote for it made by funai, but never passed it on..................
