i downloaded (legal) a concert from a torrent of a band i really like and is really hard to find. all the vob files do the same thing though. like the 1st song plays fine for 30 seconds then skips to another song for 30 seconds then skips back to where it left off on the first song, etc, repeat. is there ANYTHING that will fix this?

Were there IFO files with it? You need to play the IFOs, not the VOBs. That same thing happens on Star Wars, because of the different languages of the "scrolling text" intros.

yah the IFO's were with it. I recreated them with ifo edit, it wouldnt let me burn the original for some reason.

You do not need to burn them or create new IFOs. If you do not have NERO already, install a trial (www.nero.com) and open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file with Nero ShowTime. It should play correctly then. (Play the original, NOT the new ones).

Hope this helps! :-)

Hi imloggedin,

After creating .ifo file with IfoEdit, did you apply the "Get VTS Sectors" with IfoEdit before burning into DVD

still does it. its not as bad but it stops for like 5 seconds then starts back where it left off, at random times. theres no ez way to fix this? yah i did apply get vts sectors. is this a problem with the ifo file or what? it looks like the data is there, it just keeps skipping around and stopping and going.

if i demux the file it image pauses when the crap outs happen. what determines these pauses, the ifo file or the vob file? if its the ifo how can i fix the ifo? ive deleted and recreated them. nothing seems to work.

I am not sure what is happening. I refer you to the experts (blutach, anonymez, etc).

The skipping - does it happen when you play with a software player (e.g. Media Player Classic) or after you burn to disk? If you still have the original IFOs, I'd go back to them (although IfoEdit's create IFOs are fine).

Can you zip up the original IFOs and post them?

i dont know much but i really dont think its the IFO's, nonetheless here they are www.bluesunday.net/Ifozip.zip i can demux the whole vob file and it does practicly the same thing all the information is there but theres pauses every few seconds. ive written new ifo files in several ways, ive demuxed the vob file with no ifo file in the directory, i dont know how many different ways ive tried it.its 2 dvd's and bittorrent hasnt finish the second one, maybe it hasnt did an md5 check and it will fix it? probably not. theres no program that scans the vob file and if it sees crappy frames or long pauses it cuts them? ..and yes it skips with a software player. everyone ive tried, bsplayer (mp classic doesnt play it), windvd, nero showtime, dvd shrink gives me a out of memory error when i try and run it (seems non related, it happens at 55%), i played it in vobedit and ifoedit, cutterxp, all of them do the same thing.

After your demux, try to remux with muxman. See link in my signature. But if the encode is bad, there's little that can help.

Well, I just thought of this. Re-encode and fix the DVD. First, get a trial of Ulead Video Studio (www.ulead.com). Then, just rename one of the VOB files to MPG (the extension that is - under folder options, uncheck Hide extensions for known filetypes) and open in Ulead. Then, when it pauses, delete that section. Do this by setting the beginning as the starting point (Press F3) and the frame right before it pauses as the end frame (press F4). Then go to Clip --> save trimmed video. Then add it to your project at the bottom. Then do the same starting after the pause. Just keep doing that. Then click "create disc" and burn to a DVD.
