Progressive scan thru Video switching

I apologise if this is an obvious question (and answer). If you have progressive scan signal (PAL or NTSC) pass thru a Receiver (Yamaha RX1400) does the signal still stay as Progressive or does it revert back to Interlaced ?

It won't revert back.

However, if your receiver doesn't have sufficient bandwidth for the progressive signal you may get some problems with it or no picture at all.
