Denon 1920 - can it play CD ROM?

Hi,

Just a quick question - can the Denon 1920 play the music videos that are supplied on CD singles, or the free CD ROM's that come with film clips and the like?

I am looking to get a new player, and one with CD ROM playback would be really useful - if such a machine exists that is...

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Nope don't think it can. I guess you could always take one of these discs into a shop and try it.

I doubt it to be honest. Those music videas are usually in some kind of quicktime format, hidden behind a flash (the computer program) interface.

Answer: Probably not

Why ? :boring: Long version answer: ( skip if you like :god: )
Ordinarily if the Cd rom contains video file encoded as Divx / Mpeg4 , yes.
It will also play jpegs, mp3 or wma sound files on cd-rom.
Your query is however related to Music cds with video
The problem with music Cds with video files are that the files may range from flash(macromedia) SWf to quicktime, any format at all .They are not true Digital Audio Cd's more like mixed mode hybrids. multi media Discs. Some even install a proprietary player on the PC to enable playback of the video
Even Karaoke players will only play the video on specific cds with video
DVD players often have to define if the disc is CD audio, Vcd, DVD video or a CD/DVD with compatible files ( mp3, wma, jpegs divx) . Mixed mode muti session discs are ususally unsupported
The DVD players software is often only able to read the Audio part. This is certainly true of the Denon, Panasonic s75 and Samsung 950 I have to play with at home currently.

Thanks SENU - and to the other posters  .

Well, it was not really important - it would just have been nice as alot of videos are only available on the CD ROM format - not on DVD release.

All the best,

Ian

must admit, a DVD player that can do the quicktime movies on CDs would be nice, altho i wouldnt want to watch them on a 42in plasma or 86in PJ screen...hehe...they look bad enough when on a 19in CRT in full mode...lol
