IIRC, he got so pissed that the FS2 community didn't support him and his goals 100% that he cancelled any effort on it out of spite. Naturally, the joke's on him. :p

Xbox and M$ are going to eat Derek Smart in the long run, probably. the resources required to develop a game on these platforms and up to the standards we see is going tot ake more $$ than if he were developing onto PC. If it's a drain on his money, and one he can't make up on when his games flop after release....oooo yes, this could be good. :drevil:

Now that would be great. The worst thing about Battlecruiser 3000 was that it had so much potential to be awesome. If someone else had developed it, it could have been a huge success.

BCM would have been a decent game. If it didn't have a learning curve that can only be described as 'vertical,' and it was just better executed all around.

I own a copy, and I have to admit that it is... *interesting*. Not good, but interesting enough to spend a couple of hours on. Exploring is fun sometimes.

I liked the Battlecruiser games for awhile. Although you really do have to have a printed copy of the manual and sit down for for an afternoon to really get a hang of playing it. Best moment was when I was under simultaneous attack by pirates, mercenaries, an armed transport of the diplomatic corps, and police... then had several intruders beam aboard my ship, shooting up my crew and making a beeline for my reactor.

But after awhile it just gets old. You can do anything... but at the same time, almost nothing you do really has any effect on the gameworld.
