X2 The Threat

Got this game a long time ago and remembered it recently. When I got it the voices wouldn't work and considering I wasn't in the mood for some god awful lengthy troubleshooting i uninstalled it and promptly forgot about it. Till today. I recently found out why Fear wouldn't work so, thinking that it might be the same reason as to why the sounds wouldn't work in X2 I thought I'd try it and see what happens. Still no dice. Just to make sure I check it with the ACE codecs turned on and still no dice. I have a pretty ok soundcard. Alright it's not super fancy but it has a lot of crap on it's box (:p)) so I thought it might work. Anyone know how to get past this?
