Ok...this might be a stupid question...but I've looked everywhere and I haven't seen an answer. Some people may not find the function useful...but most windows programs allow one to print only selected areas or text...is there a comparable function in Mac OS X? If there is...I haven't been able to find it. TIA!

You are not alone. I have the same issue.

There is a work-around for this, not as nice as Windows but it works.
In the page you want to print, Go File-->Print.
Click on Preview.
In the Preview of the page you want to print use the selection tool to select the test/picture you want printed. Crop (in Tools menu) the rest that you don't want printed away and then press the Print button.
This should print the cropped selection of what you want printed.
There may be an app to do this, but I do not know of it.

I was also able to find these two apps.
Print Selection 1.0 (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22665) and Print Selection Service (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/24202)
They both add a Print Selection option to the Services menu in any cocoa application.
I just tried Print Selection, and it installs easily and works just like it should, anything selected to output to print just like any other time, giving you the option to Preview or Creat PDF.

Thanks, singleton. For someone who just signed up in February you are right up there with the long time posters of this forum.

Thanks,
I have to return the favour for all the help I have been given here.
Besides, I love this stuff.
