Locking files on harddrives from erasing!

I'm trying to lock my files from erasure because other people use my machine on the same account. I really don't want to create a new account for the other people. I just want the computer to ask for a password before it send the files to the trash. Is there anyway to do this? Thanks for your time and thoughs.

No.
You should create accounts for the other people so they don't interfere with your files. That is the purpose of separate accounts.

And Fast User Switching really leaves you with no reason not to use separate accounts. ;)

However, if it's only a few files that need protection from accidental erasure you could simply lock them via the Get Info window.
You can also use the `chflags (http://www.hmug.org/man/1/chflags.php)` command in the Terminal, option "uchg" or "schg" for increased inconvenience.
