when i first got my winfast xp deluxe tv capture card there was no hiss when i scanned for the channels the first time... i have reinstalled and installed it alot... messed with the arial so im not sure what caused this.

i've also bought the same card but a new one cause i destroyed the other one in an accident. anyway, a few channels are nice in picture but hiss. so i gotta manually edit the frequency lower/higher for the hiss to go away but that means i sacrifice some of the quality. any ideas what this could be?

Do you have an antenna, or cable/sattelite?

yeah, "accident" :rotfl:

sounds like interference/low signal strength. try removing all electrical devices further away, or better yet turn them off.

Can that happen on a cable signal?

well how come it used to work fine? could be the antenna up in the roof cause i have pulled it once or twice to fix the picture.
