The oppo would give a pic improvment for sure as long as you can take an image from the DVI socket (meaning you will need a DVI or HDMI based display) via component the image may just be a tad better. For video it is a much better machine and is one of the better faroudja based units. It suxx at audio but if you dont mind that then there should not be an issue.
With the cost of the oppo being so cheap then waiting out for Hidef dvd is a none issue realy.
Personaly im now waiting out for blu-ray to get going as as far as im concerned its the only new format worth owning, but then im more than happy with my current dvd player.:)
