DVD movie subtitles

When I play movies on TV via my standalone DSE branded DVD player I can select what language to have the subtitles, or have them off altogether. Except - it doesn't happen with all movies.

Last night I loaned Star Wars - Return of the Sith and it's got English subtitles permanently on. Is it normal for some movies not to have the option to disable subtitles?

I wouldn't say it was normal. I have never come across a movie like that before, unless the movie was in a foreign language.

At least it had subtitles - I have several times looked forward to watching hired movies and found that they had none. :(

You should be able to disable subtitles. I too have EP3 and by default its not on
