Onkyo DVSP503E

I have one in a box on my living room floor, waiting for some cables so I'll let you know when the cables arrive, it was the only DVD player in my approximate budget that has not wasted lots of money and development on a pointless HDMI connection. Onkyo have a very good pedigree, lesser known in the UK but they have a very rep in the US and Japan.

Thanks hornydragon. I liked the look of the player and the fact that it doesn't have any flashy connections which I don't need for my CRT. Have you opened the box yet? Does it feel well contructed? Sorry for the questions it's just that I have been looking for a player for ages and think this may be the one.

it doesntfeel as solid as my older player (pio 444) which is incredible IMO, the remote isnt great but i have a harmon so dont use any component remotes, its a bit taller than the 44 and the missus isnt keen (i have black BTW) connections look good but i havent had a chance to play yet

Thanks for your reply. I saw a picture of the remote and thought it looked a bit 80's but I hope to get a Harmony soon and will probably get the silver finish as it matches the rest of my equipment.
