Samsung Hd850 - Can this play 5.1 divx?

Hi there.

I have bought a samsung hd850 dvd player, until I can afford a true HD def player. I realise that this just upscales standard avi files. I have, however, had problems playing avi files ( divx and xvid) that are encoded with 5.1 sound. I get the error message NO Codec.

I have searched this forum, but have not reached any conclusion.

Any help please.
