Does anyone know where to start with this problem that greeted me when i started my G4 up?

/etc/master:passwd: No such file or directory
/etc/master:passwd: No such file or directory
sh-2.05a# USBF: 66.592[0x2189a00] USB Generic Hub @ 4 (0x100000)
USBF: 66.961 AppleUSBKeyboard [0x218a400] ::start USB Generic Keyboard @5(0x130000)

See if this Apple document helps:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106908

And by the way, a good troubleshooting technique is to google for the text of the error message that you get. I think that would have found several pages discussing this problem.
