Installing AutoCAD through UNIX

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to install Autodesk (AutoCAD) Inventor 10 on a Mac via UNIX. I need to use the 3-D modeling CAD software for work, but I would really like to run it on a new Intel powered 20" iMac. Autodesk does not currently make the software for Mac, so when I asked the "Gurus" at my local Apple store they said it's possible if I knew how to compile the software to run on OSX's version of UNIX.
Does anyone know if this really is possible, and if so how would I go about doing it?
I appreciate any advice.

It seems to me that AutoDesk Inventor is a commercial product and as such, it is not available in source code form. I guess the people you asked about this didn't realize that you were asking about a commercial product.

According to this AutoDesk page, it only runs on Windows:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=5182483

You should contact AutoDesk to see if they plan to make an OS X version.

Of course, you could try running it under Virtual PC, but that likely will be too slow.

yeh.... Autocad is Windoze only.... and that is kinda that...

Vectorwork is a GREAT alternative and is cross platform.... it integrates pretty seamlessly with AC too...

if you have to run AC check out this website..... http://www.macwindows.com/... it has alot of users using it under VPC or RDC and will give you a few pointers
