DVP-NS76H Zoom question?

Based on recommendations on AVForums I just bought the DVP-NS76H and it looks stunning over HDMI connection. Nearly as good as my PS3 blu-ray playback (well pretty good anyway).

Only downer that made me swear a bit about idiots at Sony was the zoom function.

I do occasionally like to zoom a movie to get rid of the black borders at the top & bottom but the NS76H appears to permanently display a bloody big "x2" logo on the screen all the time. Anyway to get rid of this icon?
