Its the hdmi-its normal- you can change things on the dvd player but not the TV.
How good is this TV-is it better hdmi than component with the tosh as i am seriously considering buying it (TV)

Using HDMI seems better than RGB but not a great difference - but then that is likely to be down to the DVD.
Are you saying that there is no picture format signalling on HDMI?
You can manually change in on the TV in HDMI mode - any settings on the DVD seem to make no difference.
I think on 576p (hdmi) the tv formating works and dvd (remote) but upscaled formating only via dvd remote-ie zoom modes
can u see a big dif when using comp and hdmi
The lcd it self does it store the settings wrt each input-av1 comp hdmi or do u have to adjust as you go

Can anybody help with this one?
Using a Toshiba SD350-E DVD player on a Toshiba 32WLT66 tv via HDMI lead.
The TV switches between screen size correctly on DTV and Scart.
But using HDMI, the tv sits on whichever format I last set it to. So no switching between 4:3 and 16:9.
Is this a problem with the tv - or a feature on the DVD?
Anybody help?
I have a Toshiba 42WLT58 and SD350-E. If you upscale via the DVD player the TV won't switch screen formats, it sticks to the output format of the DVD player via HDMI. SCART will reformat fine.

azzThe problem is that when setting the DVD to 576p, it is forced to a 1080i mode as soon as the tv switches to it. So as you are manually changing you may as well do the screen format.
The difference between inputs is noticable, but not really big - although not had a lot of time to place yet. It may be down to DVD quality I'm using. I will try one with a high bit rate.

With Sky-HD, the tv will need to do switching a lot.

True. Depends whether the Sky HD box upscales SD content I guess. There's an option on the Sky box to set output to 720, 1080 or 'auto'. Depends what 'auto' does I guess.
