Is black back???

I'm about to order a new AV amp and will be looking to replace my DVD player etc in the near future, but wondered what the availability of black ones are nowadays. For some reason a few years back everything went silver and you rarely see any black players etc. Now if I buy my amp in black which it is at the moment, am I going to struggle to get a black DVD player/recorder etc when I come to replace my existing one?

I've had a google around and nearly everything is silver. Is this unfortunately still the way forward?

The OPPO981HD is black as is the Denon 1930. I too have the same problem I wanted the new Denon 1507 but they only do it in Silver.

I still have not purchased my new amp and am waiting in the hope that the next release of amps are in black.

Good luck

Did you look at the colour of flat screens TV around too? I suspect that might give a good hint what trend we are heading for.

I have noticed that black is coming round to be a more popular choice again, and i am glad of that, because i think black for A/V equipment looks much better. :smashin:
I think we are going to see manufacturers offer black much more widely in future.

Take the Denon 1907 for example - Empire Direct sell the silver one ?5 cheaper than the black. Figure out for yourself what that suggests.

Thanks guys. I was hoping that was going to be the answer. I much prefer AV equipment in black, as well as surround speakers.
I had also noticed that the majority of the new plasma and LCD TV's were in black as well. Fingers crossed for the new release of AV equipment to follow suit.
I think that has just made my mind up for which colour I can safely choose for my new amp without having a mishmash of AV equipment! :D

Looking at all the latest BluRay players and many of the new HD-DVD playersm it seems that gloss black with funky blue lighting is all the rage!

I bet Harman Kardon are happy!

Black is definately back. Many of my installs recently have been with black equipment, including my own.
Think you can thank Thomson and Sky with their HD box.
