Optimal DVD playback with LCD HDTV screen

Hi,

I'm planning on buying a Samsung LE32R74 LCD panel and have a question regarding DVD playback.

Basically what do i need to get the best out of the panel? Do i need to find a player that outputs Progressive Scan via Component (or HDMI?). Is PScan 720P or 480P? Or do i need a player which will upscale?

I'm not interested in spending silly money on an HD DVD player yet, this will be for normal DVDs, and bonus points if there are any that playback XviD or DivX!

Many Thanks!
