Tried reading up on some posts but my head is hurting from trying to take in all the info. Just a beginner and really could do with some help, sorry if this has been asked before but could any1 recommend a good dvd player for under £100.

Its for my dads bday and want to get him one so he stops knicking mine, be nice to get him a decent player even though my budget is quite low. He hasn't got an LCD yet but i know he's thinking of getting one so the unit needs to be compatible.

Hopefully some one can help me cause after reading a few posts im stuck : )

Was looking at the Toshiba SD350E but some issues with the freezing image has put me off a bit. Something like this but more stable would be ideal.

Thks for any info and help,

Middle

i have the toshiba, its great mate had superb picture from it compared to an old panasonic we had, an xbox, a 360 and a laptop. I use mine on hdmi but also have used it on a mark grant component cable into my philips 32pf9830, the component is now used with another toshiba downstairs hooked up to a projector, again, produces great picture.
Never had a frozen picture either of ours, one was bought from pixmania so its french (ashamed) and the other in the uk.
Some people said the component picture gives much better colour reproduction than the hdmi, to be honest i could tell F all difference on that tv (maybe as its a good tv) so the component has been used on the PJ where better colour might be more of an advantage.

Its also cheap as chips these days.
I think a few people have been using the samsung 850 ( might be wrong on model number) and have been very happy, afaik these are under ?00 also

Cheers for the help, think im starting to get to grips with this all now. Had a look at the samsung and it seems to have alot of good reviews. What would be the best way to connect to an old tv with scart? Would you go component to scart or would another method be better?

Found the samsung for 76 inc del so abosolute bargain.

Thks, Middle
