Sounds like the DV88+ needs to be selected to component out on the video set up menu. It's probably on RGB SCART for you to get a SCART picture.

Hello T123VOR
Its probably easier to start with the Player direct to your TV - once you have that working on 'Component' Out you can then introduce the AV Receiver into the signal path.
Hook up the Component and SCART cables from the DVD player to the TV and use the on-screen menus via the SCART Input to begin with and reset the player to Component Out - now when you switch the TV to Component In you should see the player.
Now connect the player's Component Out via the AV Receiver - again you may want to start with the Composite 'Monitor' Out from The AV Receiver into the TV so you can see the AV Receivers set-up menus so you can configure it for Component In and Out from the DVD player.
Best regards
Joe
PS Ensure your putting everything into Standby when your plugging and unplugging cables.
