Have you tried a different scart some scarts are rgb only and carry picture but not sound .Also have you checked that the speakers are not turned off in the tvs menu

Yep, checked that. Took the same scart and put it into my Tivo and it works 100%. Just not working when i put it in the Tosh.

Can you try the tosh on another tv with the same scart ,this way you will be able to tell if it is the tosh or the sony .

Ok, tested on another TV. No sound. It must be the Tosh. On the Audio menu i have Bitstream, PCM and Analog. On the back of the Tosh, i have outputs for all of these so i'm guessing that there is no audio via Scart?
The New TV is a Sony KDFE50A12. How would i connect the sound? I'm a tad confused....
Component input?

If you do not have the tosh connected to a home cinema or av receiver then the audio should be set to 2 channel analogue audio in the toshs menu .If this has been done then the scart should send audio to the sony .
If you are not getting any sound I would say the player is faulty and changing to component would require you connecting the player to the tv using stereo interconnects ,but the player will still not output any audio.
