Hi Mate,

As you know, I had the same problem on my 1930

I have replaced it with the ?9 pioneer DV 696 and initial thoughts are that its an excellent replacement. The trouble is, I have only got it connected to a 33inch toshiba at the moment due to my Z3 Projector being serviced, so I can't give a definate thumbs up just yet.

Saying that, it plays everything, the menu is nicely laid out and the picture and sound on my tosh is superb - ?9 yes please :rotfl:

No just a bog standard scart at the moment as it's in the other room and not my cinema room.

I checked the pioneer with my dvd's that had the problem with lip sync in the shop this time before I walked out with it and the Pioneer had not problems :smashin:

In the shop it was HDMi and coax

The pic quality on the denon 1730 is very good and half the price of the 1930 no lip sync and i have had it for 3 weeks.

I dont think you would lose much with either machine, but for me, regarding their (Denon) customer service record I'd lean to the Pioneer :smashin:

I actually ordered the pioneer and decided to cancel and order the denon. The reason was a big delay from the shop i ordered and that got me angry.

The detail you see with the denon is very good, things like peoples clothes are very nices detailed on component progressive as i have a crt tv. I read somewhere the picture quality is very simillar with the 1930 from people who have tested both machines.

I wouldnt touch another phillips again!! Really bad build quality, the lazers went in under 3 years. I am hoping Denon is better!!

you'll be fine as long as you dont use the component outs, the pioneer 696 is just as bad as the 490 via component for jaggies/poor deinterlacing.
