.AVI AC3 files - why no picture?

I have tried playing various .avi files that have ac3 sound. I get sound but no picture.

Can anyone tell me why that is please?

Probably because they're the HR.HDTV versions which many divx players can't handle due to the higher than usual resolution. Are you sure your player is capable of playing them (what player are you using?)

Pioneer 575. They are not labelled as HR versions.

What resolution are the files your trying to play ? Your 575 manual will tell you the max it can handle.

720x576 (PAL) /720x480 (NTSC).
